Apr 6, 2017 · I swung out that way a couple nights ago. Trying to get from the Horsehead vicinity to the California nebula is ridiculous. Once you clear the Horsehead systems, you have a giant blob of COL 70 blocking your way. Gotta backtrack towards the Witch Head to circumvent the COL 70 systems.

Feb 14, 2023 · Finally got a picture that I like of the amazing Horsehead nebula. Waiting for some more clear skies, but this came out pretty good. I've honed in on my processing techniques and was able to bring in a lot more star color this time around.

Located in the constellation of Orion, the Hunter, the Horsehead is part of a dense cloud of gas in front of an active star-forming nebula known as IC434.

Dec 7, 2020 · I started reading up on how to photograph the nebula and I think what I need is an Ha-filter. If I understand it correctly, an Ha-filter increases the contrast between Ha emssion (such as in the horsehead nebula) and lightpollution (correct me if I'm wrong please ).

Jan 15, 2022 · The Horsehead Nebula is a dark nebula that can be found near the the eastern most star in Orion's belt (Alnitak). Next to it is the Flame Nebula. Feb 9, 2017 · The horse head is visible via telescope from earth due to the horse head dark region laying in front, the dark region is in fact shaped like the head not the nebula. There are a few systems where you can see the horses head.

Great capture! This is actually a combination of several nebulae. NGC2024 - aka the Flame Nebula, Barnard 33 (the Horsehead Nebula itself, which is really small in this one) and IC434, the emission nebula behind the Horsehead.

Feb 10, 2019 · Witch Head Nebula is relatively easy to get to, and there is an asteroid base there. From there, you can proceed outwards to Barnard's Loop, Orion Nebula, Flame Nebula, Horsehead Nebula and Running Man Nebula. Be warned, there are a lot of permit locked systems behind Barnard's Loop which make navigating a nuisance.
